We aim to capture existing risk premia across global markets over the long term rather than simply reflecting current short-term investment views.

Currencies

We treat currencies independently

We define currency allocation independently of underlying asset classes, e.g. the target currency exposure is a function of the portfolio-base currency.We consider equity allocation as the key risk determinant.Cash levels are kept to the minimum level needed for portfolios to be managed. Equity allocation is the key determinant of risk and return. Other building blocks are defined by relative weighting and scaling.

The following risk premia form the basis of our portfolio allocation: duration risk, credit risk, equity risk, liquidity risk, alternative risk and commodity risk.

Building blocks

We think in pure building blocks

We aim for pure building blocks in terms of risk exposure. For instance, we avoid multi-currency exposures, bundling of regional and credit segments, and catch-all definitions of alternative assets.
